Playlist Adds – Sept. 20 (Mika, Rachel K Collier, Fitz & the Tantrums, Arcadia)

I’ve got 10 new tracks on the playlist this week, and here’s some of my thoughts on the top 4!

Mika – Tomorrow

Mika would have been an unstoppable hit making machine in the 80’s. Fun and colorful in his personality and his music, and here is another reason why. I can’t wait for the full album.

Rachel K Collier – Faith Over Fear (Anders Enger Jensen Remix)

If you love electronic music, you need to be checking out Rachel’s live performances on her YouTube channel. She is top notch with bringing a performance element to electronica. Here, Jensen brings out the strings to give a sensuous cinematic new wave sound… making her Kate Bush for right now.

Fitz & the Tantrums – Kiss the Sky

To me, They have always sounded like Hall & Oates became more influenced by New Wave than soul. This is one of the more glam tracks from the new album, and to celebrate, I also put the first song of theirs I ever heard, Breaking the Chains of Love.

Arcadia – Election Day

Let’s face it, Arcadia was just Duran Duran without Andy Taylor’s guitars. And as a result, I feel like this is the forgotten Duran Duran hit. I might have to bring this skanky groove back next October.
